Recently, the concept of microgrids has emerged in world due to integration distributed energy resources (DERs) at distribution end. The design a reliable protection strategy is one top-most challenges associated with microgrids. This because transition between grid-tied and autonomous modes operation. paper presents state-of-the-art microgrid scheme based on Kalman filter (KF). proposed uses one-end current signal line for detection classification faults. Firstly, KF applied each phase three-phase individually generate residuals total harmonic distortion (THDs). Next, variations THDs are compared pre-specified threshold values detect faulty events microgrid. As processed through individually, therefore, inherently segregated. Afterward, extract third component from voltage signals. Then, KF-based reactive power (KFBRP) obtained extracted components. Finally, directional properties KFBRP used locate section Extensive simulations MATLAB/ Simulink software performed as well operation under radial meshed topologies. results show that highly robust all testing scenarios without any false tripping blinding issues.
